If you only have 10 minutes a day to workout should you?

When you think about hitting the gym or taking a workout class, you probably imagine spending somewhere between 30–60 minutes sweating it out. Anything less than that and you might as well just skip it altogether, right?

Well, not quite…

There are many ways to get a good workout in even in such a short period of time. It is never about the amount of time put in, it is about the effort you put into a workout in a short period of time. The focus here is on QUALITY not QUANTITY!

Even 10 minutes in front of the TV, waiting for dinner to cook, before you take a shower, when the little ones have gone to bed, instead of your evening stroll through instagram or even 10 minutes earlier than you’d normally set your alarm can be hugely beneficial!

Our 10 – for – 10 niix programme (available in the focus section) has short, fiery and effective workouts just 10 minutes long for 10 days. This is the perfect programme if you’re off on your summer holidays, struggling to find time in the day while the kids are off or just looking for an extra boost to your workout programmes. These classes are intense enough to be done on their own or alongside your workout routine, or sporadically throughout the day, 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there that’s already 20 minutes of intense exercise!

Here’s just a few more reasons why 10 minute workouts ARE effective…

1: 10-Minute Workouts Remove the Mental Barriers

10-minute workouts are realistic, practical, and mentally easy to say “yes” to.  Knowing you only have to do 10 minutes removes the mental block that often keeps us from working out and we’re less likely to skip workouts because they seem easier to fit in.

2: 10-Minute Workouts Get You Going

We all know that getting started is the hardest part… Once you get started and remember how good it feels to exercise, you’ll feel motivated to keep going!

3: 10-Minute Workouts Can Be Just as Effective as Longer Workouts

Research is showing that short workouts can be just as effective, if not more effective, than longer workouts. This has become increasingly apparent with the popularity of HIIT training, but also Pilates where the focus is on form and technique – 10 minutes of correct and proper technique is far more effective than 30 minutes of sloppy form.

4: 10-minute Workouts Improve Consistency

Almost everyone struggles with consistency. You may be excited and motivated to get started, but in a few weeks you get busy, bored, or distracted. No matter how busy you are, how far your day goes off course, or how many excuses you come up with, EVERYONE can find 10 minutes per day to care for their body and mind. Exercising for 10 minutes everyday over a long period of time is more effective for overall mental and physical health than exercising for an hour each day for one week and doing nothing for the rest of the month.

5: Just 10 minutes of exercise a day can boost your energy levels!

Often when are so busy with zero time to do anything the little time we do have left we feel completely exhausted. If you actually flip this on its head and USE this 10 minutes to get your body moving and get a little sweat on you will be amazed by the boost in your energy and productivity levels… This boost will allow you to complete your tasks quicker and more effectively leaving you with actual time to relax – winning!
