With half term in full swing it can be difficult for some of us to keep up our exercise regimes, but here are a few top tips to help you incorporate working out in and around spending time with family and friends.
Keep it flexible
Rather than getting stressed about missing your usual class or gym session why not look for other opportunities to squeeze in some you time. This might mean getting up before the children (if at all possible) and fitting in a short niix workout without interruptions, or even exercising at the end of the day once they are in bed.
If this doesn’t work for you, grabbing ‘bite-size’ sessions throughout the day can be just as effective. For example, doing a 10-minute session of weight training, body weight training or stretching up to three times a day can still give your body a workout without having to take too much time out of your day.
Make home workouts your best friend
niix workouts range from 10 – 20 minutes and are perfect for getting a good sweat on when you are stretched for time. The strong focus on correct technique, quality and movement means you can fit heart pumping sessions in around running a bath, or waiting for the rice to boil.
Get the kids involved!
Children have an endless amount of energy to burn so why not get the whole family involved? Round the children up and take the dog for a walk. If you don’t have a dog just getting out in the fresh air for a walk can be a great way to spend quality time together whilst topping up that step count.
To keep the children entertained and get your heart rate pumping you could add in circuit style ‘stations’ along the way. Why not get them to try star jumps, push-ups or running on the spot. It will keep the children entertained for longer; and who knows….it might mean an early bedtime.
