5 tips to sustaining weight loss

REAL WAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT

So many people are constantly dieting. Mostly, they’re on a diet that they’re breaking. Treat days, a bit of pizza here, some ice cream there, a bottle of wine with friends… There’s nothing wrong with enjoying food after all, we are hardwired to eat. But if you can feel the weight slowly creeping on and want to stop this, there are some small things you can do. Are you ready?

MAKE A CHANGE

Losing fat means you have to make changes to your habits. Not a temporary change, but a real and permanent one. If you continue to eat the way you currently are without making any changes, you will stay as you are; that’s the simple truth. Accept that you will have to make at least one positive change, and build from there.

KEEPING TRACK

Avoid weighing yourself religiously. The problem here, is that weight loss can be affected by many other factors such as water retention, your menstrual cycle or muscle gain. It can be disheartening when the scales stay the same, or if they seem to creep up a little after what seemed to be a great week of working out and eating well. Instead, why not use an item of clothing to measure your weight loss in the early stages? Clothes that fit you better after a few weeks are a great way to motivate you and spur you on for other goals. Don’t forget that muscle weighs more than fat so when

DIET IS VITAL, BUT SO IS ENERGY

There are apps that will keep track of your food and will make it a diary, complete with calorie and nutritional information, for many these apps work really well. For others, eating the same foods but in smaller quantities – say, eating one slice of pizza instead of two – is their route to success. There is no magic spell  here, but there is personal preference. What works for you may not work for someone else, and visa versa. One thing I really believe in is that whole foods satisfy and fuel the body in ways that diet food, processed foods and junk foods do not. It’s all about trial and error to see what works for you. IT’S NOT ALL EXERCISE

As well as exercising and eating healthily, sleep and water are also crucial to how are bodies run. If you aren’t rested or hydrated you’ll tend to eat more than you need – and usually, you’ll eat more of the bad stuff. Exercise can help you to build a better body that burns more calories, but it’s your overall lifestyle that will make fat loss easier.
